Become An Emergency First Responder
A prerequisite of the Rescue Diver Course is an internationally-recognised First Aid Course and CPR certificate, which you can you complete right here in Phuket. This course is also for those who are non-divers and wishing to become an emergency first responder. Further details of the courses we offer are HERE.
If you don’t have a valid First Aid certificate already, then we offer the Emergency First Response – First Aid course and CPR course. This is a comprehensive programme that teaches you basic first aid and life-saving emergency care skills, along with the steps you take in order to assist somebody who needs medical help.
The price of this one-day in-depth course is just 6,500 THB per person which includes private tuition and an Internationally-recognised 2 year certification.
EFR Re-certification is just 4,500 THB per person.
Requirements
The EFR Primary and Secondary Care Course is open to anyone. There is no dive certification required or minimum age restriction. However, this course is a prerequisite to the Rescue Diver certification and beyond.
Emergency First Response is a PADI affiliate and international, award-winning CPR, Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) and First Aid training organisation. They specialise in teaching lifesaving First Aid and CPR skills – and the courses are designed for anyone, not just divers. Here at Andy’s Scuba Diving Phuket, our team of PADI Dive Instructors are Emergency First Response Instructors too.
The Course
The EFR Course Phuket encompasses adult CPR skills, First Aid training and the use of Emergency Oxygen. You will also learn secondary care skills such as illness and injury assessment and you’ll discover how and when to activate the Emergency Medical Services.
This 1 day course is conducted in the classroom and includes practical application and hands-on training experience using a CPR manikin. On successful completion you will receive a 2 year Internationally-recognised certificate.
The Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care Course meets the certification requirements for several other PADI courses including Rescue Diver, Divemaster, Master Scuba Diver, and Dive instructor.
The Programme
In the EFR Primary and Secondary Care Course you’ll learn:
- BLS (Basic Life Support), CPR and rescue breathing at the layperson level
- Emergency Oxygen use
- Preventing and caring for shock
- Spinal injury management
- Use of barriers to reduce disease transmission risk
- Basic first aid and first aid kit considerations
The cost for the EFR Course Phuket is 6,500 THB per person.

Most First Aid and CPR Certifications are renewed every two years so that the First Aider/ Emergency First Responder can refresh their first aid knowledge and skills and keep up to date with the current techniques and guidelines.
The Emergency First Response Refresher Course generally takes half a day to complete. You will watch the video presentation again and practice some role play scenarios that include CPR, First Aid and AED use. This will refresh your primary and secondary care skills and introduce any changes that have been made since the original certification.
The cost for this course is just 4,500 THB per person which includes expert tuition with our EFR instructor Trainer, training manual, PADI certification fees for 2 years.
