Requirements
The PADI Discover Scuba Diving Phuket programme is open to anyone who is aged 10 years or above and is in good health. You do not need to be able to swim to participate in this programme as you will be guided and assisted at all times by your expert Instructor in the water.

Our PADI Discover Scuba Diving
The PADI Discover Scuba Diving Phuket programme offers you the ideal way to experience scuba diving without having to enrol on the PADI Open Water Course.
If you don’t have time for the full diver training or would just like to see what diving is all about, then this fun day out is perfect for you. Your Instructor will teach you basic scuba diving theory and familiarise you with your equipment before accompanying you on 2 or 3 exciting dives at protected dive sites to a depth limit of 12 metres. During this day trip adventure, you will be under the supervision of your experienced, friendly and patient instructor at all times. The full day programme consists of:
- Knowledge development and equipment handling
- Performing basic scuba diving skills underwater
- Experiencing thrilling scuba diving with tropical fish, colourful corals and marine animals
The course does not give you a scuba diving qualification, but you will receive a certificate at the end of your day’s experience. This certificate can be used towards your PADI Open Water Course at a later date.
Schedule
Your day out begins in the morning between 7-7.45am when you will be collected from your hotel and transferred by minibus to Chalong pier. There you will be met by your PADI Instructor and escorted to the large, comfortable 2-deck dive boat. After a cooked breakfast, you will be shown your scuba equipment you will use for the day by your Instructor and you will be given an overview on what you will learn during your Discover Scuba Dive. You’ll learn the important rules of scuba diving, and master some basic scuba concepts. Then you will arrive at the first dive site and your instructor will spend some time giving you a detailed briefing about your first training session. In shallow water, you will be shown a detailed demonstration of all the necessary scuba skills while emersed in the underwater world. You will then have time to practice and master these skills under your Instructor’s direct supervision.
Underwater Touring
Once you have mastered the required skills, you can continue with the best part of the programme – touring the underwater world! Your experienced Instructor understands what it’s like to be a beginner diver and will be there to assist you underwater at all times. A one-hour surface interval follows and you can enjoy a sumptuous buffet lunch of International and Thai food. The boat will moor up in a beautiful bay for lunch – the ideal location to photograph the stunning islands and for a spot of snorkeling. Then you will be ready for your second dive of the day.
On the 3 dive trip, your third and final dive will be between 2.30-3.30pm, after which the boat will start heading back to the pier. You will arrive back around 5pm depending on the dive sites visited.
Marine Life
There is an abundance of marine life at the dives sites located in the Andaman Sea around Phuket, and your instructor will show you a diverse variety of fish, corals and marine creatures. You will likely see: nudibranchs, lionfish, butterflyfish, angelfish, parrotfish, scorpionfish, anemone fish, triggerfish, seahorses, sweetlips, pufferfish, moray eels, trumpetfish and barracuda. You may also encounter: leopard sharks, black tip reef sharks, banded sea snakes, turtles, ornate ghost pipefish, stingrays, trevally, tuna, dolphins, manta rays, filefish, cuttlefish and more.

Note: We ask our Instructors not to take cameras for photographs on the Discover Scuba Dive Programme training dives as this is against PADI standards. Safety is our number one priority for our guests and we want to ensure you are relaxed and comfortable in the water with our Instructors close by at all times with no distractions. Please bring sunscreen, sunglasses, swimsuit and a towel with you.
